Dallas has real tile and slate roofs on houses built to carry them, and a great many houses that want the look without the structure. Synthetic shake and slate solved that — polymer profiles that read as the real material from the street at a weight an ordinary frame can hold.
We install both. Real clay and concrete tile where the structure supports it, and F-Wave, Brava, and DaVinci systems where it does not. Our Brava shake work in Kessler Park and the tile replacement in University Park are the two projects to look at.

What we install
We install F-Wave, Brava, DaVinci systems, and we will tell you plainly which one suits your house rather than which one we happen to have in the yard. Material choice on a Dallas roof is mostly a question of impact rating, weight, and how long you plan to own the house.
What it costs
We do not publish a price range, because a range that fits every house is a range wide enough to be useless. What drives your number: square footage, pitch, how many layers come off, how much decking is soft, the material you pick, and how complicated the flashing details are. We walk the roof, put all of it in writing, and the number does not move unless we find something and tell you first.

We check the structure first. If it will not carry tile, a synthetic profile gets you the same look at roughly the weight of asphalt.
From the street, yes — the good systems are molded from real shake and slate and vary the profile across the run so it does not repeat. Up close you can tell. Come look at the Brava shake project in Kessler Park before you decide.
That is usually the underlayment, not the tile. Tile is the rain screen; the underlayment beneath it is the waterproofing, and it ages out decades before the tile does. The fix is to lift the tile, replace the underlayment, and re-lay the same tile.
